Three BIH Roadshow Authors Lead Round Table Sessions at the Sonoma County Book Festival - FREE - Santa Rosa, Sat., Sept. 21

The FREE festival runs all day on Saturday, September 21 from 10am – 4pm with something for the entire family… speakers, workshops, literature, graphic novels, history, romance, mystery, YA, children’s books, puppet theater, teen poetry slam, book signings, and lots of exhibitors and entertainment.

I Can Dance: My Life with a Disability
Laurie is 57 years old. She was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA 2) and has lived with a significant physical disability since the age of two, using a wheelchair since the age of five. She is retired from her position as Chief Deputy Director for the California State Council on Developmental Disabilities, is a mother of two adult children and a grandmother of three grandsons. She is active in community writing groups and a frequent speaker. Her memoir “I Can Dance: My Life with a Disability” is available from most online bookstores. Judith is an award-winning journalist who writes about health and medicine. She has been a Washington correspondent, journalism professor, a Fulbright scholar, and has written and edited in just about every medium in a journalism career that spans 40 years, from a small town newspaper to USA Today. An editor and consultant as well as the author, of seven books, she participates in workshops and is a frequent public speaker. Over the past four years, she has written--and promoted-- a series of four books in collaboration with Scientific American: Day in the Life of Your Brain (2009), Brave New Brain (2010), Book of Love, Sex, and the Brain (2012) and The Healthy Aging Brain, just published. Judith lives in Sacramento, and travels as widely and often as possible.

Anthony Barcellos grew up speaking Portuguese on his grandfather's dairy farm in Porterville, a small town in central California's Tulare County. While he retains some rudiments of his first language, today Barcellos is much better at using English. He teaches math full-time at American River College and regards it as the best job he's ever had, despite his rewarding experiences in journalism and state government. Tony currently resides in Davis, California, with 30 overflowing bookcases and is a 2005 alumnus of the local University of California campus' School of Education doctoral program in mathematics education.

The Book-In-Hand Roadshow offers sessions about the process of creating a book and explores the world of self-publishing. The traveling roadshow provides fresh information because each session has a different mix of speakers. Speakers include story editors, copy editors, cover designers, photographers, proof readers, photojournalists, self-published authors and traditionally published authors. Now, you can learn from experts who speak plain English and generously share their knowledge about taking your ideas from words on paper to book-in-hand. Established in 2010, The BIH Roadshow events have taken place in Northern California and Hawaii. Texas, Missouri, the Pacific Northwest, Ohio, and Southern California are in discussion.

Ingrid E. Lundquist, CSEP is the founder of The Book-in-Hand Roadshow. Her seven-time award-winning 2013 book, Dictionary of Publishing Terms: What Every Writer Needs to Know is a “go-to” resource for the writers’ desk. She is a Certified Special Events Professional (CSEP) and recipient of The International Special Events Society Best Industry Contribution Award for her book Results-Driven Event Planning: Using Marketing Tools to Boost Your Bottom Line.
