Miffed by the Book Parts... WORKSHOP

Originally presented at the Gold Country Book Festival, this presentation has been expanded into a workshop to lead authors through the task of writing and organizing the parts of your book that are not the main story. You're familiar with the words... foreword, preface, and index ...but what do they really mean and how do they fit into your book. Do you really need them? Join us and find out how they can enhance your finished product and which parts you can eliminate.

“Understanding the elements, how they’re organized, and how to make them your own is part of the magic of creating a print-worthy book that meets professional criteria,” said workshop leader Ingrid Lundquist. If you want your book to look and feel like a real volume of work, it’s about more than the great story you penned. Your story is the content (the middle), but there’s also the information that comes before it (the front matter), and information that goes after it (the back matter.)

In this workshop, Ingrid will guide you through developing and personalizing your books parts. You’ll learn tips on how to make your book well-rounded and thoughtful from cover to cover.

You’ll walk away knowing how to:
·       Build the book parts as you go
·       What information goes in which part
·       Create your own book part criteria
